A little blub for your Sunday evening read, this time I did about 5mins google research and discovered that according to howmanyleft.co.ukthere are 378 Renault 5GT Turbos left on the road, compared to 513 fiesta XR2s, which make them pretty rare these days, and its kind of hard to find one that’s not been abused either mechanically or aesthetically or both. So when Jake sent me a pic of this one, I thought I’d see if I could write a little blurb about it, so here it goes.

Owned by Matt White for the past 7 years of its life, started out as a fast road car, but that would never be enough so the racetrack beckoned, and that inevitability led to a melted piston at Donnington. And so the transformation began, and oh my dayz, what a transformation; starting with a respray in the brightest white you’ll ever see, front grill morrettes (cold air feed moulded in to look factory) hydrodipped in silver carbon by Letsdipit, which look insanely nice. Letsdipit did a lot of bits to the car, smoothed bumpers, exhaust hole deleted and so on. Its running a C1J 1.4 engine with 285 cam, 2.5″ side exit and downpipe, T25 turbo with 21psi of boost, which to be honest is a bit over my head, but means its rapid. Hitting 209hp 197torque on the rolling road.

Interior is stripped, buckets, caged, original dash and some little panels of colour, unlike the engine bay which is pretty loud and rad. And to finish it off it now sits on standard R5 banded wheels which suit it so dam well.

This R5 is stunning, looks a blast to drive, amazing work Matt and thanks for the feature.
