So as much as we are not just a Fiesta brand, as the owner of both a mk2 & mk6 I am drawn to Fiestas, theres always exceptions, both the mk4 &5 arnt high on my list but anyway allow me to introduce ‘Patina the Tramp’, a fully fledged, legitimate, genuine 100% patina mk1 fez.

You may think I’m labouring the point about the patina, but I have my reasons, to start with, patina isn’t just rust, you can’t just rust up a panel and call it patina, thats like saying your ride is slammed when you’ve only dropped it 10mm, patina means weathered, aged, history.

So how did Patina the Tramp become Patina the Tramp? She was left, unloved, outside in the elements for years, the first time I saw her she had a smell, four flat tyres, and not much glass, and that was a good year before Dan managed to get ownership and flatbed her off… When you take ownership of a rusty battered old fez you expect rot and a lot of it, but Dan was happy to find that Patina wasn’t a rot box, but held water well, so he did what many would want to do but probably wouldn’t, he got her up and running, sat her on some Wellers (did have some insane split rims at one point) and MOTd her, and that was about that. Patina may be lacking a lot of the comforts that only a mk1 can provide, but she comes complete with a full exhaust in the passenger seat, and all the attention you can find.

We had a mini meet with a mint bright green mk1, a mint white mk1, my XR2 and caged mk2 and no one even noticed the rest, it was all about Patina.

Be interesting to see what happens to her, I know Id add an interior, and probably replace everything mechanical, but then I’m not Dan so we shall see.
